Will the mesh sag or let insects in around the dog door?

Not when it is fitted properly. We cut the mesh cleanly and seal it flush inside the aluminium pet door frame, so it stays taut with no gaps for insects.

Can I lock the dog door at night?

Yes. Screen dog doors can be locked, and many have four-way locking and a lockout slide as options. Can you lock a dog door? explains the settings.

How long does a screen dog door install take?

It depends on the door and any extra work, and we tell you when we quote. We seal the mesh, test the locks and help your dog start using the door before we leave.

I have a screen door in front of a glass or timber door. Can my dog get through both?

Yes. We fit a pet door into each and line them up, so your dog is never stuck between the two doors.

A fly screen door is often the simplest place for a dog door. Your dog gets the run of the backyard, and the house stays closed to flies, mosquitoes and the neighbour’s cat. The install is what decides whether it lasts: a badly cut screen sags, lets insects in and looks rough within months.

How we fit a fly screen dog door

A fly screen door is light, and the job is mostly about the mesh. We cut it cleanly and seal it inside the pet door frame so it cannot pull away or fray around the opening, and the door still opens and closes as it did.

Sliding and patio screen doors

A sliding fly screen on a patio or back door is a good place for a dog door. The pet door goes into the screen panel, low enough for your dog to step through, and the screen keeps sliding as it did. If there is a glass sliding door behind it, we can fit a pet door into the glass as well and line the two up.

How a fly screen install works

We size the door to your dog’s shoulder height and chest width, which you send with your quote request, and to the largest dog if you have more than one. Then we check the screen’s frame and mesh, cut the opening, fit the pet door frame, seal the mesh inside it and test the locks. We help your dog start using the door before we leave.
