The glass has to be identified correctly, cut to a precise diameter, and sealed properly, and getting any of that wrong means replacing the panel. If your sliding door or window is laminated glass, our technician cuts the opening on site and installs the Pet-Tek Catwalk cat door into the panel where it sits. The panel does not come out of the frame. That is the difference between a straightforward installation and a full glass replacement, and it is the main reason a glass cat door installation costs less than most people expect.

Toughened or safety glass cannot be cut once manufactured. For those panels we have a pet door specialist glazier fabricate a new panel with the opening already in it, then swap the panel out. Either way you end up with a cat door for sliding glass door that works, and we tell you which situation you are in before any work starts.

The Catwalk is a translucent circular flap moulded from polycarbonate, one of the toughest materials available for this application, and UV stabilised so it does not yellow in the Australian sun. Visually it reads as part of the glass rather than a bolted-on fixture, which matters when the panel is the main feature of a living area.

The Catwalk is rated to 8kg, which covers the majority of domestic cats. For cats above 8kg, the Pet-Tek Dogwalk Mini installs into glass the same way and is rated to 13kg. We measure your cat’s shoulder height and width on the day rather than guessing from breed.

Yes, if your existing glass panel is laminated, we can cut and install the cat door on the spot without removing the glass from the frame. If it’s toughened (safety) glass, we’ll replace it with a custom-made panel designed to fit the door.

Alex was awesome- professional and really skilled at installing and communicated the pros and cons of using different doors. Really loves and cares about what he does and spent the time to help us retrain a 14 year old dog who is semi blind and deaf to use the door in our new home we just moved into. I would have had no idea what to do had he left without helping me train Max. By the afternoon Max was using the door all by himself. 8 months ago we had our pet door added to our house. Summer was amazing in getting our appointment arranged. Alex arrived on time and installed our new pet door quickly and efficiently.
