Dog doors for security screen doors and Crimsafe

Yes, we fit dog doors into security screen doors, including Crimsafe, cut so the mesh stays taut and your screen still locks as before.

A security screen is usually the door you trust most. It might be at the front entry, or across the back door you leave open on hot days. Putting a dog door into it is a different job from a fly screen: the mesh is reinforced, the frame is heavier and there is no room for a rough cut.

If your screen is a standard aluminium fly screen, see our fly screen dog doors page instead.

Why a security screen needs a careful install

The whole point of a security screen is that it stays strong, so the cut matters. Get it wrong and the mesh around the opening loosens and the edge looks rough.

We cut security screens with the right tooling so the surrounding mesh stays taut, then fit an aluminium pet door made for security screens and fix it firmly into the frame. The pet door locks, so you can close it off whenever you are out or it is night time.

Crimsafe and other steel screens

We install into Crimsafe and other branded steel security screens, as well as hinged and sliding security doors. From your photos we check the screen, its frame and the door behind it before recommending a pet door.

How a security screen dog door install works

We size the door to your dog’s shoulder height and chest width, which you send with your quote request, and to the largest dog if you have more than one. Then we check the screen: its frame, the mesh, how it opens and what sits behind it. We cut the opening, fit the pet door, fix it into the frame and test the locks.

A screen in front of a glass or timber door

A pet door in only one of them leaves your dog stuck in between, so we fit both openings in the same visit and line them up, with both doors still opening on their own. See dog doors for sliding glass doors and dog doors for timber doors.

Which size for a security screen

Security screen dog doors come in sizes from medium to extra large. For a big dog, see large and extra large dog doors; our dog door sizes guide explains how we choose.

What every security screen install has

  • An aluminium pet door made for security screens, from Petway, PetSafe or Ideal Pet Products
  • Mesh cut with the right tooling, so it stays taut around the opening
  • Locking options, including four-way locking and a lockout slide on many models
  • Your screen’s own lock, working as before
  • Up to 3 years warranty, and pet door training free with the installation

Security screen dog door questions

Yes. We fit dog doors into Crimsafe and other steel security screens. We check the screen and its frame first, then recommend the pet door that suits it.

Your screen still locks exactly as it did, and the pet door has its own locks, so you can close it off fully when you are out or away. We cut the mesh with the right tooling so it stays taut around the opening. Any opening is still an opening, so lock the pet door when you are not home.

Yes. Security screen pet doors can be locked, and many have four-way locking and a lockout slide as options. Can you lock a dog door? explains the settings.

It depends on the screen and any extra work, and we tell you when we quote. If there is a glass or timber door behind the screen as well, we fit both openings in the same visit.

Exceptional service, product and extremely quick turn around. Left an enquiry this morning. One hour later Alex called. 30 minutes later Allen installed my pups door in the crimsafe fly screen. Thanks so much. Might be back in winter for the glass door one too! One stoked owner. 😃
Response from the owner:Now that's the kind of turnaround we love! Enquiry in the morning, pup sorted by lunch. A crimsafe screen is a great spot for a pet door. So glad you're happy with it, and we'd be keen to sort the glass door one for you come winter. Thanks so much for the review! 😃

A great experience from Alex. Standard of customer service and work completed was excellent.Appreciated the extra bonus of helping me the screen change.
Response from the owner:Thanks, Gail! We’re delighted you had a great experience with Alex. He always takes pride in his work (and loves lending a hand where he can!). Really appreciate the lovely feedback and recommendation.
From my first enquiry to the final installation, Summer and Alex provided a very efficient and professional service. We had a tricky set up that required a dual pet door to be installed through two doors – one french door and one security door. The result is better than we could have hoped for, with Alex paying careful attention to all the little details during the installation and also making sure our Frenchie could use the doors. I highly recommend this business.
Response from the owner:Thank you, Chloe! We’re so glad we could help with your unique setup — Alex takes real pride in those tricky installs, and it’s great to hear you’re happy with the result. We're also thrilled your Frenchie is using the doors with confidence! Really appreciate your recommendation and kind words.

The whole experience with Sydney Paws Pet Doors was excellent. From Summers quick responses to the installation by Alex. Alex was going to come out and provide a quote for our sliding door but once he got here and looked around, he suggested an alternate spot for the door and installed it, saving us quite a bit of money. Alex was friendly, knowledgeable and not only took the time to teach and train our puppy, he also noticed one of our security doors was missing some rivets so he fixed that as well. What a great guy!!! Would highly recommend to anyone in need of a doggie door. Thank you Summer and Alex! Cheers Toni
Response from the owner:Hi Toni, Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re thrilled to hear that you had such a great experience with Summer and Alex. It’s fantastic that Alex could find a solution that worked best for your home while saving you money! We always strive to go the extra mile, and we’re glad to hear your puppy got some training along the way too. If you ever need anything in the future, don’t hesitate to reach out. Enjoy your new pet door! 😊
